Carnival Monday opens with J’ouvert at 4:00 a.m., where revellers parade through the streets immersed in paint, grease and mud, partying until sunrise. Later on Monday and all day on Carnival Tuesday, thousands of masqueraders flood the streets throughout the islands in bold, colourful, vibrant costumes, dancing through the parade routes to the exhilarating sounds of soca, steelpan and calypso music.

Authentic Stories from Diners
To begin with the only positive aspect of this establishment: The elderly gentleman who seated us, explained the menu, and took our drink orders was an absolute delight. He was warm, welcoming, humorous, and truly made us feel comfortable upon arrival. His customer service was exceptional and deserves recognition. Unfortunately, everything after that initial interaction was extremely disappointing, particularly the so-called “buffet experience.” The buffet is not self-service. Instead, you are presented with a very limited selection, and each item is served to you in extremely small quantities. While I understand the concept of a one-time serving due to cost considerations, the portions provided were unreasonably small. The omelet portion was a tiny square—smaller than the palm of my hand. The coconut bake was equally small. The pancake was enjoyable and flavorful. The saltfish was very basic and lacked any standout taste. The sausages were just okay. The waffle was thin and overly firm. Overall, the portions were shockingly small—very, very small, especially for a buffet-style offering. Adding to the poor experience was the male staff member serving the food. His attitude was unwelcoming, dismissive, and completely indifferent. He showed no patience or understanding and clearly is not suited for a customer-facing role. His lack of basic hospitality significantly detracted from the experience. This was our first visit, and based on this experience, it will certainly be our last. In my opinion, this establishment is overrated and does not live up to the expectations set by its reputation.
I ordered the house special, which was 2 pancakes, bacon and scrambled eggs. I got fresh salad and a fruit cup complementary. The food was great. The staff were very friendly and easy to talk to. They kept checking up on us and made sure we enjoyed our experience. A plus, it's in crownpoint so it's about a 15 minute walk from the airport. I would highly recommend you come here for breakfast!
The question “Where should I get breakfast in Tobago?” is answered. I stayed at a hotel offering a breakfast buffet (to remain unnamed) and it was terrible. After eating delicious food at Store Bay, I was expecting something excellent from the hotel and I was very disappointed. Then came Original House of Pancakes to save the day! The service was excellent and the food was just as good! I had the coconut and pineapple pancakes. They came with two fried eggs and two slices of bacon. I also had a chip of fresh fruit and juice made with passionfruit and orange juice. 😋🤤 If you visit a hotel in Tobago, I highly recommend that you tell them you don’t want breakfast included. Instead, walk or take a taxi to Original House of Pancakes. You will leave happy and full. I know I did!
Great quality food just like I would make so definitely up to a good standard. Fantastic service the staff was accommodating, welcoming all in one. I went with friends. We got fresh food and juices. The nutmeg syrup was great and the Mexican style eggs I believe with salsa and cheese. Chocolate chip pancakes 👌. We went on a Sunday pretty close to closing time.
Visited here twice while on my 4 day trip, the food and hospitality was so good I had to visit again. The food was great, filling and the prices were reasonable. The first visit by boyfriend and we both got "The House Special" which had 2 pancakes, bacon, eggs ( your choice of egg), bacon, a fruit cup and a drink (hot or cold). I got the fruit punch and my boyfriend got the orange. Everything was exquisite. The second visit we both got the combination breakfast (includes different types of pancakes of your choice, waffles, coconut bake, french toast, plain toast, salt fish, plantain, different types of eggs, bacon, sausages, fresh salad and a fruit cup) and hot chocolate. Would definitely visit again such a lovely place with lovely people.
